What does every college guy do at midnight on a Saturday night the first weekend back at school? His girlfriend’s makeup, of course.
Okay, probably not, but that’s what happened with us.
We were hanging out in our residence hall with some of our friends and none of us could figure out what to do. We messed around on our phone’s, our laptops, my boyfriend’s Xbox, but nothing kept our attention. Somehow, we started talking about funny videos and my boyfriend, Brian, brought up one about a guy who did his girlfriend’s makeup. He was clueless, but he seemed to act like he knew what he was doing.
After the video was over, Brian started talking about the video and I (jokingly) asked him, “Do you wanna do my makeup?” Joke was on me, he actually wanted to try it. Why not? I thought. What’s the worst that could happen?
He didn’t know where anything went or what anything was. We started with the foundation… Maybe we should have stopped there. He pumped some out of the bottle, dabbed it on my face, and said, “What’s next?” without spreading it on my face. Needless to say, some of it dried before we could get to it and my face had streaks. Let’s not forget the fact that the makeup we had wasn’t even mine, so my face grew two shades darker within ten minutes (and we all know how that goes). When instructing him to put eyeshadow on my lids, he applied it all the way from my eyelashes to my eyebrows (that’s not the lids, hun). That’s when he learned that mascara goes on last and, when applying it, you have to move from the bottom of the lashes to the tip. Don’t stroke down. And guys, I don’t even want to talk about the lipstick. Let’s just say, he didn’t stay inside the lines too well.
In all honestly, I think I’d recommend this to any couple who has been together for awhile and is looking for something fun to do. It’s certainly an experience for everyone (and it brought along about forty minutes of laughter as we struggled to make my face look somewhat normal). However…
I’m still not sure if this was a mistake.
